How to Watch NFL Games Online: Streaming Options for Football Fans

By

Watching NFL games online has become easier, but figuring out where a particular matchup is streaming can still take some planning. Broadcast rights are spread across traditional networks, live TV services, and dedicated streaming platforms, with availability often depending on location and game type. Knowing how the major options work can make football season much easier to follow.

YouTube TV and NFL Sunday Ticket

YouTube TV offers one of the broadest NFL streaming setups. Its main plan includes local and national games carried on networks such as CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network, depending on availability in the viewer's area. That covers many regular-season games as well as nationally televised playoff matchups (source).

NFL Sunday Ticket can be added to YouTube TV or purchased separately through YouTube Primetime Channels. It provides out-of-market Sunday afternoon regular-season games carried by CBS and FOX. Sunday Ticket does not include locally televised games, national broadcasts, or postseason games, so fans seeking wider coverage may need to combine it with another service or a YouTube TV plan (source).

Prime Video

Prime Video remains the main streaming home of Thursday Night Football. For the 2026 season, Amazon says Prime Video will carry 17 regular-season Thursday Night Football games along with a Wild Card playoff matchup. Fans can watch through the Prime Video app on supported smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, phones, tablets, and computers (source).

Prime Video is therefore especially useful for fans who don't want to miss the weekly Thursday matchup. It won't replace a broader NFL package, however, because Sunday afternoon, Sunday night, and Monday night games are generally carried elsewhere.

Peacock

Peacock is an important option for fans of Sunday Night Football. The service streams NBC's Sunday night NFL coverage throughout the season, allowing subscribers to watch those games without relying on a traditional cable package. Peacock also carries other NFL games assigned to NBC during parts of the schedule (source).

For viewers primarily interested in NBC matchups, Peacock offers a relatively focused way to stream football. Its coverage doesn't include the full Sunday afternoon schedule or most games shown on CBS, FOX, ESPN, Prime Video, or other exclusive streaming services, so it works best as one piece of a broader setup.

Paramount+

Paramount+ provides live access to NFL games broadcast on CBS in a subscriber's local market. That typically means Sunday afternoon matchups assigned to the viewer's local CBS station, along with featured national CBS games and eligible playoff coverage (source).

The main limitation is geography. Paramount+ does not turn every CBS game nationwide into an available stream. The games viewers receive depend on the CBS broadcasts available in their local market, making the service especially useful for fans whose preferred team is regularly shown on their local CBS affiliate.

NFL+

NFL+ offers a different approach because much of its live regular-season coverage is designed around mobile viewing. Subscribers can stream local and nationally televised regular-season and postseason games live on a phone or tablet. NFL+ also includes NFL Network, out-of-market preseason games, and live audio for every NFL game (source).

NFL+ Premium adds NFL RedZone as well as full, condensed, and All-22 game replays across supported devices. One important limitation is that live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games are restricted to phones and tablets and cannot simply be cast to a television (source). That makes NFL+ particularly appealing to fans who watch on the go or value RedZone and replay access.

Netflix

Netflix has become a more significant part of the NFL schedule in 2026. The platform is carrying five regular-season games during the 2026 season, including an international matchup, a Thanksgiving Eve game, two Christmas Day games, and a Week 18 matchup. Those games are available live to Netflix subscribers (source).

Because Netflix only carries selected games rather than a full weekly package, it works as a supplemental option rather than an all-season NFL solution. Fans who already subscribe may nevertheless find several high-profile games included without needing a separate sports-specific subscription.

Finding the Right NFL Streaming Mix

No single streaming service provides every NFL game in every situation. YouTube TV and Sunday Ticket offer particularly broad coverage, Prime Video handles Thursday Night Football, Peacock carries Sunday Night Football, Paramount+ provides local CBS games, NFL+ adds mobile viewing and RedZone options, and Netflix now carries several exclusive matchups.

The right combination depends on which team a fan follows, whether that team is local or out of market, and which days of the week matter most. Checking the NFL schedule before choosing subscriptions can help avoid paying for platforms that won't carry the games you actually want to watch. Broadcast arrangements can also change between seasons, so confirming current availability remains worthwhile whenever a new NFL season begins.
